SA8000:2014 has been published and is now available in the public domain.
You can download a free copy of the new standard by clicking on this link. A report on the consultation process can be found on SAI’s web site. At the moment certification is only available to the 2008 version of the standard which still remains valid. From the 1 January 2015, certification against SA8000:2014 will be possible for new companies that apply to Globalgroup. Existing clients certified to the 2008 version will have one year transition to the new version. In fact there is a choice of versions from the start of January 2015 as to whether new clients choose to be certified against SA8000:2008 or SA8000:2014. From 1 January 2016 it will only be possible to be certified against SA8000:2014, and all certifications to the 2008 version must be transitioned to SA8000:2014. In order to assist existing and new clients, Globalgroup shall be making available guidance for the certification process. As stated above, certification to SA8000:2014 will not be available until 1 January 2015, however, Globalgroup are accepting applications for SA8000:2014 now. As an accredited certification body under ISO 17021:2011 for SA8000:2008, Globalgroup do not provide consultancy services. However, Globalgroup can offer two services to assist clients in transitioning from SA8000:2008 to SA8000:2014. The first is by running public training courses on SA8000:2014 and the second is a gap analysis between SA8000:2008 and SA8000:2014. This gap analysis is carried out using a brand new and unique measuring tool called “Quantified Audit System (QAS)”. This QAS measures every requirement of SA8000:2014 against an existing system and gives an end percentage score to the client for each section of the standard as well as an overall section score. This allow clients to measure their performance of implementation of conformity against SA8000:2014 when they are implementing the standard. Globalgroup are the first certification body in the world to offer this QAS. In fact the SA8000:2014 standard was only issued a few weeks ago and we have and already designed and developed material and run a training course for all Lead Auditors as part of their Annual International Conference at the InterContinental Asiana Saigon Hotel in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam on the 14 August 2014. The picture above shows only the Lead Auditors for SA8000. The changes to SA8000:2014 will be discussed in the next GlobalBLOG as well are more details about the training and gap analysis.
